Digital broadcasting
Digital television is a new type of broadcasting technology. Through transmission of information about the picture and sound in bytes, a digital broadcaster can transmit much more information than using today’s analogue technology.
Ukraine's transition from analogue to digital broadcasting is reinforced by international agreements signed in 2006 in Geneva (Switzerland). Despite the fact that all Ukrainian TV channels now use analogue broadcasting, most nationwide stations in an experimental mode in Kyiv and Odesa broadcast in digital format.
Starting from 2015, all Ukrainian channels will broadcast only in digital format.
