Activity
Digitology
Since 2009 the Television Industry Committee has held press courses “Digitology” on the introduction of digital television for interested media.
The purpose of the courses is to inform the wide range of journalists about Ukraine's transition to digital television broadcasting and shutdown of analogue broadcasting scheduled for 2015.
Given that analogue broadcasting will soon be discontinued, Ukrainian society should be prepared. Media is the first point of access to new information, including media literacy, especially the regional media; they play a major role in the correct reporting of events and informing the public about the state of Ukraine's transition to digital TV.
Press courses is an educational project implemented by the Television Industry Committee to raise the awareness of journalists in the field of digital television and technology changes that have major social implications.
The press courses are free for journalists and participants are enrolled on the competition basis.
In February 2010, the Council of Europe co-sponsored the press courses “Digitology”.
The participants were offered courses in the following topics:
- History of technology and media.
- State regulation of digital broadcasting implementation in Ukraine.
- Role of media in the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting: French experience.
- Features of the transition to digital broadcasting of the East European region.
- Digital television in the world: facts, figures, money.
